Whether you’re saving for retirement or have already retired, your RRSP contributions or payments must be recorded in your tax return properly. Auto-fill my return (AFR) takes the guess work out of your entries. AFR is a secure CRA service that allows you or your representative to automatically fill your return with all information available with CRA. You can use this service if you are filing your return online using NEFILE or EFILE software. With Auto-fill my return, your RRSP information is loaded directly from your CRA My Account directly into your tax return.
What is the difference between NETFILE & EFILE?
Netfile is the term used for individuals to electronically file their tax returns directly with the CRA. This is done using a software of your choice; such as TurboTax.
Efile is the term used for accredited professionals who are registered with the CRA to file multiple returns at the same time; such as accountants. They would use software specially designed for them such as Profile.
RRSP information imported with Auto-fill my return includes:
- T4RSP, Statement of RRSP Income
- RRSP contribution receipts
- RRSP contribution limits
- Life Long Learning Plan – Repayment amounts
- Home Buyer’s Plan – Repayment amounts
In order to use Auto-fill my return, you must be a CRA My Account holder. If you don’t already have a CRA My Account, sign up.
Our TurboTax products allow you to import your data using the AFR option. You can ask one of our tax experts to Assist and Review your return. If you still feel overwhelmed, you can ask a tax expert to prepare and file your return, with TurboTax Full Service (not available to Quebec residents).
