As a university student, you are often quite busy with your studies when tax season arrives. Authorize My Representative allows students to give consent to a parent or other trusted individual to contact the Canada Revenue Agency on their behalf. This would allow the designated individual to contact CRA online, by telephone, in person or in writing. Authorization will allow a representative to gain secure access to information needed to file your taxes, such as T-slips, tuition credits, and more.
Students can grant access at two different levels. At level 1, the CRA may disclose information only. At level 2, the representative can make changes to or update information. Authorizing a representative is easy using CRA’s My Account service. In addition to the initial sign up, you can use your CRA My Account to instantly change the level of authorization granted, choose a different representative, or revoke authorization completely.
