Can I manually fill out my tax forms in TurboTax?

While TurboTax has made it easy to enter and submit your tax information by working through its software, there may be times when you want to enter items in a specific box or line. This could be easier for you if you are used to filling out your taxes on paper, for example.
In our TurboTax Desktop version, you can view and make changes directly to your tax forms. With Forms Mode, you can access the CRA tax forms for everything from TD1 and Revenu Québec forms, to Federal and Provincial income tax forms and schedules for every province and territory. Here is what you should know about our Forms Mode and EasyStep Mode.

You can switch effortlessly between Forms Mode and EasyStep
TurboTax Desktop software comes with Forms Mode for your convenience, but if you ever want to go back to filing your return with step-by-step guidance (also called “EasyStep”), you can easily switch back with the click of an icon, and TurboTax will put your information in the right place on all the tax forms you need based on your tax situation.
Forms mode is not available on TurboTax Online
The online versions of TurboTax do not support Forms Mode. If you are using TurboTax Online, and want to review line numbers and schedules, click on the "view detailed summary" link next to your refund amount in the top navigation menu. For mobile, click on the hamburger menu in the top left corner to expand the left navigation menu. click on "view detailed summary" under the refund monitor. You will be able to view all line numbers with the amounts.
How to get in and out of Forms Mode
If you are using TurboTax Desktop,you can switch between Forms Mode and EasyStep using the dedicated icons in the top navigation. When in EasyStep the Forms icon is on the top right. When in Forms Mode, you can find the EasyStep icon on the top left.


When might I want to switch to Forms Mode?
If you feel comfortable filling out manual tax forms, you may prefer to work in Forms Mode. However, EasyStep is a much more convenient way to breeze through our taxes and while also ensuring that your returns are accurate and your get the best tax outcomes. by reviewing specific lines in Forms Mode, or trying to input again using EasyStep.
TurboTax is aware of a few customer issues regarding the ON 479-A (ONCARE) form, available in both TurboTax Online and Desktop versions, for the Ontario Childcare Access and Relief from Expenses (ONCARE) tax credit. We are aware that a few desktop customers who chose to navigate out of the TurboTax EasyStep guided tax experience to Forms Mode. In Forms Mode, customers are choosing to bypass TurboTax guidance for forms like the ON 479-A (ONCARE). As a result, some customers did not accurately enter all of the information required for the ON 479-A (ONCARE). We can confirm this is not a TurboTax glitch and our calculations are correct.
Customers who continue to decline to use EasyStep are encouraged to double check the information they enter, such as dependent information and household income, to ensure their personal information is entered correctly.
