Compatibility & Software:  Being online means no more software to install and no more concerns about operating systems and hard drive space.  

  • Disruptions, such as Microsoft no longer providing security updates and support for Windows 7 effective January 14, 2020, won’t impact you when you’re using TurboTax Online.  
  • If you decide you want to buy a MAC computer, you will still be able to use TurboTax Online; TurboTax Desktop cannot be used on a MAC computer.
  • Not to worry if you’re coming from TurboTax Desktop; your data is easily transferred to TurboTax Online, so all your data is carried forward into your new return.

Going online means no more restrictions to using TurboTax products because of your preferred choice of hardware, or losing your program and data if your computer decides to stop working on April 15th.
