Tax Tip: How Long Should We Keep Income Tax Files in Canada?

Overview

The Canada Revenue Agency states that you should keep your tax information for six years should the agency request to review them.

This includes copies of your tax files and all supporting documents, like receipts for:

  • Medical expenses
  • Donations,  and
  • Any other documents you used to calculate your taxes.
